Chapter 1: The Prediction and the Return of Toad Boy
Lance Stone walked into his home and sighed. He had been on a date with Sage and everything was going just perfect until Sage got a call from her mom telling her that she needed to come home because there was a family emergency. What was that emergency? Sage’s grandfather who was staying with them for the weekend had taken too many of his pills and he had to be rushed to the emergency room. So since the date was over before the coming attractions even started, Lance just decided to go home and poke fun at his sister and Dizzy. His sister, Cally, and Dizzy had been going out for three months. Lance always knew that Dizzy liked Cally, but he didn’t know that Cally felt the same way. It must have been the song. One small thing can change your opinion about a person.
Lance walked into the living room to see something he wished that he hadn’t. Cally and Dizzy were making out on the couch.
“Oh my dear God, that is just gross!” Lance said in a kind of girly voice as he turned his head in disgust.
Cally and Dizzy, having heard Lance’s high voiced statement, pulled away from each other and sat up.
“Aren’t you supposed to be on a date!?” a red faced Cally asked, trying to maintain a calm voice, but unfortunately failed and it was even higher than Lance‘s voice was just a few seconds ago.
“She had to take a rain check. Family emergency” Lance answered, starting to calm down.
“Sorry you had to see me making out with your sister” said Dizzy. He tried to avoid looking Lance in the eye because he was too embarrassed.
“Trust me, I’ve seen worse…” said Lance. Then he thought “Damn you, Vern and Symone. I had nightmares because of that” (And no, he doesn’t mean THAT)
“The mutated frog, right?” Cally asked. She could tell by the look on her brother’s face that it was the mutant frog that Symone and Vern had conjured. Lance just nodded.
Dizzy looked at the clock. It was 10:30. He was already late.
“I better get going” said Dizzy. He got up, but not before he gave Cally a good-bye kiss.
After Dizzy left, Lance just rolled his eyes and said “And he said that I was whipped”
“Hey. You are, you freak out just because you forget to call Sage,” said Cally, walking into the kitchen, “and so what if Dizzy is?” she opened the fridge to get herself some juice, but the carton wasn’t in the fridge.
“And if you’re looking for the juice, I drank it all,” said Lance, “and ate all the chips, and the peanut butter”
“You’re a pig” said Cally, about to close the fridge door when she noticed something. The comic was in there.
“Oh crap!” Cally exclaimed. And Lance knew just what that “Oh crap!” meant. Cally took it out and was shocked by what was on the cover. A gun was pointed right at Violet and her boyfriend. Who it was holding the gun wasn‘t visible, but Cally was already creeped out enough.
“Of all the weird places for it to show up” said Lance, walking over to see why his sister had that look on her face. And when he saw it, he was just as shocked.
“You and Dizzy should both be careful” said Lance.
“But who’s the one holding the gun?” Cally asked. This was scaring her. Cally turned the page and on the first page was Omen talking to Violet. And she didn’t look too happy.
“Oh my God…” said Cally, “could this mean that…?”
“Yeah. I think it means that Omen’s coming back” said Lance.
The next day at school, Cally kept her eyes peeled for that jerk, Omen. After he used her, if he tried to make nice with her(1) she’d kick his ass. Okay, maybe she wouldn’t, but she’d sure as hell get Sage to do it. She told Dizzy, but he kept telling her that there was nothing to worry about. Cally wanted to believe him, but the comic predicted it, so it was bound to happen. And she was right.
It was after lunch and Cally was standing by her locker when she felt someone tap her on the shoulder. She turned around and saw Omen standing there.
“Miss me?” he asked, smirking at her. Cally found it disgusting. She couldn’t believe that she ever liked him.
“As if” was all she could say before rolling her eyes and turning to walk away. But Omen grabbed her hand.
“Get the hell away from me before you have a fist so far in your face that you’ll need more than reconstructive surgery!” Cally shouted. Omen just laughed.
“Heh, what are you gonna do to me, Cal?” he said in a mock tone.
“I won’t do anything, but either my brother or his girlfriend would tear you apart!” said Cally.
“Or I would” Cally heard Dizzy say. She turned around and saw Dizzy standing there. Dizzy pulled Cally away from Omen and held her close while glaring at Omen. He wasn’t going to let Omen do anything to Cally.
“Wait a minute. Did I miss something here?” said Omen, raising an eyebrow at the couple, “From the looks of it, I’d swear that you guys were together”
“We are, you brain dead toad” said Dizzy.
“Oh,” said Omen, “okay, see you later” Omen walked away. But this wasn’t over. He wasn’t giving up that easily. Cally would be his. And no curly red haired punk was getting in the way.
