Thought this would be a nice thread to have.
So if you've read anything good, post the title and author here. (oh, and maybe saying what it's about could be useful)

I have read a few books recently that I can suggest:
With "the Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe" coming to theaters soon, I decided to reread the classic seven book series by C.S. Lewis. It is an easy read - each story is roughly 120 pages and was a quick diversion. If you are into fantasy - Lord of the Rings etc... this is a classic must read. (Plus the author was friends with Tolkien).
Llyod Alexander wrote a great series (five books) The chronicles of Prydain - the Black Cauldron being the second in the series.
For those ready to tackle SERIOUS fantasy, you can do no better than George R. R. Martin's "Song of Fire and Ice" series... now up to the fifth book... it is an incredible journey into a world where the seasons last decades and the cast of characters is both rich and diverse in detail. The plots are twisted - alliances are made and broken, main characters are ruthlessly dispatched.... it's intense. Each book is well over 1000 pages and is well worth the time and energy needed to digest the epic story arcs. If you like fantasy... this series is for you.

The Vampire Chronicles-Anne Rice
-Interview with the Vampire -The Vampire Lestat -The Queen of the Damned -The Tale of the Body Thief -Memnoch the Devil -The Vampire Armand
This series is amazing, with a magic touch when it comes to imagery. If you like vampires, obviously, you should like it. The storylines are twisted and fun.

Currently reading We the Living by Ayn Rand, better than I expected. I recently finished Our Game by John Le Carré, it was quite good (about British secret service in post-Cold War Russia).

I too just finished The Chronicles of Narnia. I got the complete set for Christmas.
I also read an anthology of Stephen King. It had The Langoliers, Secret Window, and a few others. Slow going but a good read.
Anyone seriously into fantasy would probably go for something like The Dragon Quest Series. It's a difficult read but the detail and characterization are well worth your time if you're into that sort of thing.

The Earthsea trilogy (Ursula Le Guin) is pretty good. The books are fairly short altough in depth with details. If you enjoy fantasy, you should read it. There is also a movie out combining all of the books. Which are: -A Wizard of Earthsea -The Tombs of Atuan -The Farthest Shore
Much like a short edition of The Lord of The Rings.

I suggest that everyone should read Terry Goodkind's Sword of Truth Series. They are the most amazing books ever. I won;t do the books justice with a description. I say just pick up the forst one and get reading.
The first book is called Wizard's First Rule
AMAZING!!

I've noticed there are a lot of "goth" kiddies on here so unless it's not terribly obvious be sure to check out anything by Edgar Allen Poe or H.P. Lovecraft. They're not exactly books but poetry and short stories. Poe is obviously great but Lovecraft's a little more difficult to follow. KTHNXBAI!
