Anyone on this board remember any classic YTV shows from the mid to late 90's? (Before anime and Sugar took over the network.) This thread is an appreciation thread for all things old school YTV. I have been watching the "Mighty Y" since day one in 1988 and here are some of my favorites:
You Can't Do That On Television: One of the greatest kids shows ever created. This show was massive in the US for 7 years before 1988 but when YTV started airing it on prime time, it became huge in Canada. If it wasn't for YTV, the Chris and Ted era would never have happened as the show had been cancelled after the "phantom season" in 1987.
Home and Away: Global showed it for a time 5 years ago but YTV was THE place to watch the show that paved the way for 90210.
YTV Rocks: Before The Hit List there was Theresa and YTV Rocks! Dang she looked hot in her leather jackets and acid wash jeans!
The Destructoe Brothers! The summer of 1996 gave us the coolest tv show/contest of all time. This show gave us Dee Dee Delovely, Metal Ed and of course the Destructoes. How far will you go to win "TEN GRAND!"?
The ORIGINAL Zone: Phil Guererro and Snit, Sailor Moon and the greatest lineup in YTV history.
The Breakfast Zone: Paul and Jen gave us the one and only morning show in YTV history and I never missed it.
Catwalk: Before Neve Campbell was Julia on Party of 5 and the undisputed Scream Queen of the 90's she was the bass player of fictional Vancouver supergroup in training Catwalk.
Ready or Not: Before Lizzy McGuire, Even Stevens, Zoey 101 and Malcom in the Middle it was the adventures of Bizzy and Amanda. Amanda grew up to become a total babe too!
The ORIGINAL Hit List: Tarzan Dan: The man with no tan! Nuff said.
YAA! The YTV Achievement Awards: Nickelodeon's Kid's Choice Awards if they didn't suck. This show honored regular kids who did good for themselves and the community while having cool celebrity guests and two time host Werd Al Yankovic. YTV's downfall in the early 2000's can be traced directly to YAA being dropped for the "Keep it Weird" era.
...and the greatest of them all:
IT'S ALIVE!!!: Jeff Colt, Eva Preggor, Jenn Beech, Mike Beaver, Scott Yaphey and GROG! This was a one hour show on Friday nights on YTV that had sketches, a game show, and obsticle course for the winner of the game show, interviews with teen stars like Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Lacey Chambert (Po5 and Mean Girls,) and fan interaction. This show had it all and it's legacy is still seen today with Scott hosting 'Uh Oh'. (His current character is taken directly from It's Alive and the set is the old It's Alive game show set. If ANYONE has episodes of this lost classic on tape EMAIL ME!!!
Those are mine, how about your's?
