Yes, I would donate lots of money! But it should be a movie instead of just an episode... And there could be lots of bloopers at the end, especially Vern ones! Unless he doesn't have any, because he's so perfect... There could also be cast interviews at the end! And you could try to get it to play in theatres, I am sure a lot of people would come to see it! Then maybe SOMEONE will regret not giving it a third season! ;D

And if it can't be a feature fil for theatres, then it could at least be a tv movie.

That's a shame. It was a really good show. Unfortunately, YTV makes bad decisions all the time.

That majorly sucks. Oh well, it was extremely good while it lasted. I'm glad I actually got to see the majority of the episodes (stupid work). It was a great show.

I'm sorry to hear that there won't be a season three! Dark Oracle is my favourite show, and I was hoping for at least a couple more seasons.

Actually, I'd say straight off the bat that this is reluctance on an actor's behalf to come back for another season. With how gung ho about the series YTV has been lately even despite lackluster ratings, I'm pretty close to positive they wanted a third season, atleast. If Danielle or Jonathan refused to come back for a third season, which I couldn't see, they still could write them out if needed... but if Paula or Alex refused, the show would be put in the very situation it's in now. Paula, from what I've seen, loved the show, and unless I've been grossly mis-informed, it's got a pretty shiny spot on her resume (so to speak.) But Alex has been on a ton of other shows now, most recently Degrassi which was a giant stepping stone in his career, and I'm sure hes off to bigger and better things than Dark Oracle.
EDIT: But I'm 99% sure it was sent (or will be sent) in by YTV for International Emmy consideration this year, so when they announce the nominees in October, if Dark Oracle is nominated again for Best Children's and Youth Program, expect word on a DVD release of the series. (If it wins, who knows what...)

Millie, that was my first thought too, lol. And I also thought it would take a little longer for YTV to decide, they hadn't even played any reruns of season 2 yet. But I don't know... Maybe the show should just have had more publicity.

It being confirmed so early is the main reason I'd think it had nothing to do with YTV at all. Every company involved (YTV, Shaftesbury Films, Cookie Jar Entertainment,) to be quite frank, would wait to hear about a possible International Emmy nomination before they decided either way, but if a major cast member (namely Alex) displayed absoloutely no interest in returning, there really wouldn't be anything left to say besides 'Sorry, and thanks for your support.' EDIT: Wow, it appears I might be quite wrong. When they sat down to speak with Canadian Screenwriter, Sinyor and Conkie were uncertain if the funding was in place to guarantee a third season of Dark Oracle. Siegal was still waiting to see if YTV’s Canadian Television Fund envelope was going to be enough to keep one of her favourite projects afloat. - www.wgc.ca/magazine/articles/summer06/darkoracle.htmlIt'd be great if Jana could comment further on whether it was primarily a funding issue, or if it was in fact reluctance on an actor's behalf that put the last nail in Dark Oracle's coffin. I mean, while I really don't know too much about TV as far as details go, why would they decide if they had the money for it or not, before the International Emmy nominees are announced? I mean, a two-time International Emmy award-winning series would definately be worth the funding, so why chance it before everything is set in stone?

Stupid YTV and their standards! Dark Oracle was supposed to be a more mature, darker show! It says that the show MAY have a chance of having a third season though!

Hey everyone, Got some answers for your questions - The reason we didn't write more of a wrap up episode at the end of season two is that we didn't know that there wasn't going to be a third season. We always hope and wait to see how the ratings go - but we never know for sure until after it's already started airing. So our challengs is the make the last episode work for both scenarios. It seems like you all want more details on why the show went down. I'll tell you what I know. It had nothing to do with an actor's refusal to return. Things didn't get far enough for that to even become an issue. The problem was ratings. As many of you know, YTV is a station that targets kids - primarily kids in the 6 -11 age range. Spongebob is one of their most popular shows and gets fabulous numbers. Dark Oracle on the other hand does not get anyone under 11 watching, much less 6. Even though we tried to make it slightly younger so that it would appeal to YTV's core audience, it still reaches far above their 6-11 target. That means that our numbers weren't very good because we weren't interesting to the younger kids, the main population that watches YTV. The really sad part is that we are currently in talks with a major US network, who wants to buy the first 26 episodes. If that had happened earlier, there might have been some hope of us having enough money to fund a third season. The ONLY chance of another season going - and let me be clear here guys, it's really remote - would be if the following occurred... 1. The US network buys the show and it's a huge hit. 2. We are able to either revive it on YTV or another network with interest and additional funds from the US network. 3. If this were the case we would have to have Dark Oracle visit new characters, because by that point - a year or two from now, Alex, Paula and everyone else would be too old to reprise their roles. They'd guest star and probably act as guides for the new characters. Anyway - that's the pie in the sky scenario. Most likely it will never happen - but, you never know. I'll keep you posted though - O.

At least there is still a glimpse of hope. I read the article, I can't believe that Dark Oracle was going to be more mature, that would've been awesome to see. Also, Dark Oracle toned it's content down just to fit YTV's standrds and this is how they thank them? Dark Oracle is probably their only emmy- award winning show, and they brought a whole new audience to YTV. I hope that the US network buys the shiw, or I also like Omen's idea of turning Cally and Lance into mentors for a new set of people.

The article says that both YTV and CBC considered showing Dark Oracle or whatever. I'm pretty sure CBC would have let you done the show how it should have been- After all, they did play the old Degrassi years ago before it got moved to CTV. So why DID you choose YTV, a stupid channel who doesn't know anything about anything? Oh, and also... Why exactly DID you have to re-write Dark Oracle to make it suitable for a younger audience? I mean, YTV plays shows (THAT AREN'T EVEN FUCKING CANADIAN!!!) that are rated 14+ like Smallville, plus all the damn animé. But really, why is the show c8 and not PG?

I weep for the great shrine that was Dark Oracle. What I woud do to hear one new "Don't Hit..". I could see this happening, some new "zixx lvl 1" esque characters showing up, wth their pre-pubescent squeaky voices saying "Oh no, dont let my new alter ego wanna be blaze rip off get me". Lance and Cally being side characters "oh kids dont worry, we know what to do!" , that would be a sad sad sad fate for this show, I would rather it be put to rest than that, all because of ytv. Yes they do run the "older youth audience " shows, in fact their the only reason many watch ytv (including me). It would be an incredible idea to have a more mature aim, that would be the best show ever to exist. Too bad we dont have some free limitless resource to host the show (ponders internet, reminds self it costs money to make a show). Oh pie in the sky, grant our wishes, but dont let ytv run this plane into the ground..............

I agree with wat u guys are saying, they showed episodes of Buffy and smallville that were like 1000% more mature than dark oracle. Also agree that if new kids came to the show, they would have the kiddish personas. However, the casting in dark oracle has been very good and they have brought some really cool actor to the show so u never know.
